Ship in a Storm

Ship in a stormy night,
No port to call home,
And none to berth;
Lurching and swaying!

Countless storms past,
Moving at a knot;
One fore, two aft;
And three to the port.

Timbers gone numb,
Over countless storms;
The wet and cold, never once-
Penetrating the hull.

Moving with the storm,
With no Pole Star to guide,
I fear, this ship will berth;
At the bottom of the sea!
Damned heart feels no pain,
Poked, prodded or ripped...
Beauty fails to smitten,
This torn, sordid heart.
Friends fail to hurt,
Hard as they try.
Loss fails to bring,
Tears to the eyes.

Forged in the smelter;
Of Hurt and pain, yester.
Desert fails to wilt,
Leaving an ache.

Flyin' on a Wing an' a Prayer,
Crash and Burn it must;
To fall in love; and-
To cry once again.
